REVIEW: Kate Spade New York Supercalifragilipstick in Pop Art Pink

It's been a long, long Wednesday for me, girls! I'd rather not get into the office awesomeness, but instead I'm excited to bring you my review/photos/swatches of the first Kate Spade Supercalifragilipstick to arrive at my door: Pop Art Pink! ($24, katespade.com, but I paid about $17 for it during their F&F sale).
It came in a huge, non-descript mailing-box with lots of pretty beige-and-brown striped tissue paper and air-filled plastic mailing bags, but the pink-and-red cardboard box (remniscent of Victoria's Secret packaging) still got a little crushed. Over-package much?

As soon as I removed the tube itself, I was surprised by how large it is.  It's light-weight but still manages to feel luxurious. I haven't seen this type of packaging before, either.  The bullet-side sits upside-down in the cap and you push on the little spade "button" to pop it out.  So, the lipstick is actually smaller-looking than the large cap/base suggests.  I'm sorry I didn't get a picture of the spade "button" because it's actually the bottom of the bullet-side!
With a Fresh Sugar Passion Lip Treatment and MAC lipstick for size comparison

If you're a fidgety person, you'll have a lot of fun fidgeting with this. It could make a good conversation piece for a girls'-night-out! (LOL yes, I've noticed my abundant hyphen-usage in this post. Please don't hold it against me - it's been a really long day at work!)  The lipstick seems to have no fragrance but if I sniff at it really hard (as I do love to sniff products I'm reviewing... weird), it smells a bit waxy. Not pleasant, but you won't detect it unless you literally try to inhale the thing through your nostrils.  It wouldn't fit through most, but my nose... ok, I'll stop trying to be funny now :-P

Left is one stroke (sheer, no?) and right is many strokes

The "Pop Art Pink" color itself instantly reminded me of (Almost-dupe-alert?) CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Temptress, one of my favorite lipsticks of the year which got me wearing bright lips to the office in the first place.  It's a watermelon-pink, though the Kate Spade is quite a bit sheerer and doesn't stain like the CoverGirl does.  This makes the lipstick last an average amount of time, around 3-4 hours.
Far right is CoverGirl Lip Perfection lipstick in Temptress. They're very similar but Temptress clearly has more blue in it.

Like the CoverGirl lipstick, it has a slick, moisturizing feel that resembles a balm (though I would say the Kate Spade is lighter-feeling). It has a weight to it but it's not uncomfortable or sticky. I like to feel a lipstick on, personally, because that means I can usually tell if it has migrated as I wear it without having to check a mirror (nice when you're wearing a bright color).

Why does it always rain on me?

I don't really love the sheerness though it is buildable, and the cheaper dupe is still my preference.  I do adore the packaging, though!  Ideally, you'll have both and put on the CoverGirl Temptress in the morning.  Later in the day when the CoverGirl has shifted into a lipstain, you could whip out this Supercalifragilipstick button-tube and touch-up, and all the girls will remark how cute and clever the lipstick is!

I wanted to do a lip swatch, but you can see I have lots of flaky dry skin going on right now! How embarrassing!

It's Not Easy Being Acid-Green

This is my second attempt to get any decent pictures of my EOTD:
Products used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
MAC Cakeshop Shadestick (tones down the lime shadow slightly)
CoverGirl Lime Alive One-kit Eye Enhancer Eye Shadow
Stila Daydream Palette Trance and Kitten Eyeshadows (Trance deepening the crease, Kitten blending it out)
Kat Von D Autograph Eye Liner in Proud Peacock
Stila Kohl Eye Liner in Topaz on waterline
Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara (clumped horribly on my right eye, started flaking... do not like)
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara

Lipstick is Revlon Colorburst in Carnation

The lighting in every photo gave me Kermit face :-(

UPDATE: Attempt #3. I love sunlight!

Lesson learned? Save the Barbie-pink lipstick and acid-bright eyeshadow for sunny days!

Milani LE Swatches, and All My Purple Lip Swatches

At last I've had the chance to do lip swatches of the Milani LE High Speed Fast Dry One Coat nail lacquers in Yellow Whiz (hehe) and Purple Rush, as well as the four limited edition Milani Haute Flash Glosses.  The purple, In a Flash, got me itching to compare it to all the random purples I have, so I thought I'd include them as well.  Sorry, this will be picture-heavy!  But please note how white teeth look with purple lip color, and how my green eyes are intensified.  If you're curious, I'm wearing Stila's Beach Girl Travel Palette in Living the Life in Laguna $14 on eyes and cheeks, with Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara (much better than Hypnose Doll Lashes, imho).
Left to Right: Sephora OPI IM Beauty topped with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Disco Ball, Sephora OPI IM Beauty alone, Milani High Speed Fast Dry in Yellow Whiz

Milani High Speed Fast Dry in Purple Rush on Thumb. I couldn't photograph the red tones in this polish, but it is really a good purple between warm and cool
Yellow Whiz is definitely a cheerful, Corvette yellow, while IM beauty is more of a Marshmallow Peeps yellow.
Guess what? Between the bottle, the brush, the coverage (1 to 2 coats to full opacity), the shiny finish, and the quick dry-down time, this is without a doubt the best fast-drying polish I've ever used.  However, fast-drying polishes always chip on me within a day, so if these make it 1 day or more they are still winning.  I am very seriously considering ordering the rest of the colors but I have a million nail polishes I've yet to use...

Next up, the Haute Flash Glosses. These aren't so much glossy or moisturizing as they are shimmery (not frosty, though, which is nice).  They feel similar to other Milani glosses I tried before but I can't remember the line name.  They smell as usual, too, which is sort of plastic vanilla, but it's light and doesn't bother me.  They are a little tacky but I don't personally have to worry about getting hair stuck in my gloss, obviously :P
The feel and wear time are nothing special but these are definitely show-stoppers:
Star Flash (is more opaque than it looks)

Flashy

Hot Flash (I lovelove this in the center of my lips over Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in Are You Red-dy)

In a Flash
My lips bare, for reference
That purple is GORGEOUS!  I don't know why I have so many purples, but I love to put them on when I'm not going anywhere and In a Flash triggered a swatch-fest:
Milani In a Flash (FYI the gloss pencil Milani makes that is also called In a Flash is far lighter and pinker)

MAC All of My Purple Life Lipglass

Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick 919B

Cover Girl LipPerfection Lipstick in Divine (I have worn this to the office a few times XD)

The "divine" stain CG Divine leaves behind

NYX Round Lipstick in Castle

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in African Queen

Stila Lipglaze in Guava, for reference. Notice how my eye color appears duller?
I hope you enjoyed the comparisons!  I'm going to make a colorful look with the LE Milani paint palette this weekend and actually wear it around (it's not ideal for the office... duh).

Regular Teeth

Holy Nuclear Smile, Batman!

Brighter Teeth
Of course, the only woman of my coloring who'd wear a lipstick this intense would probably be a Batman character, ha.
