REVIEW: L'oreal Carbon Black Telescopic Liquid Eye Liner

Please ignore my stained nails!

No. Just NO.  This is not the kind of brush a liquid eyeliner should have:
Horrible, stiff sponge applicator

Pros: It is very black and washes off easily (not waterproof).
Cons: The brush/doefoot is wayyy too thick. It's nearly impossible to get a precise line.  The shape of the brush sheers out the black a bit so you have to go over the line again which just ups the possibility of making your line jagged.  It's extremely difficult to taper your liner to a point for a cat-eye, so I wound up taking the line out to Cleopatra-length.  That look has its place but it's hardly what I'd call versatile.
Repurchase? Heck-to-the-NO!
L'oreal Carbon Black Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner is $8-$9 at drugstores, but PLEASE save your money and don't try it!
Three failed attempts to get a thin, opaque line.
Into the bin with ye!

  3. I got this.... long time ago. I dislike this, too!! Same reason as you, I don't understand why they design the tip like that, you can't even use it

  5. Hi Kat, yes! I am confused about why the other commenters say it sounds good... I meant to make it not sound good at all :P

  6. Awww, sorry to hear that it didn't turn out well. And the swatches look pretty thick and still wet. I prefer the Japanese cosmetics one instead!

  8. Thanks, Riya and Nisa. I couldn't get a thin enough line which was a deal-breaker!

  9. Definitely got my hopes up saying that it was lovely and black - all mine are so faint at the moment! But no thin/straight line = killer for me too. Dammit!

    Thanks for sharing chick :)

  10. Hi Sarah, the applicator is a serious travesty of a liner brush, they really ought to fix it!

@Lina, my pleasure! Why the grudge? Mostly I just find them to be so-so.
@Ain't that Pretty, seriously perfect vampire look! Everybody go check out her blog!
@Francesca, thanks! I am following you as well but bloglovin' was down so by e-mail.
@Liz, worst liner brush EVER, I don't think I could even draw with it like nail art. Booooo.
@Kaleido Mind, maybe the sponge tip would be workable if it was like Urban Decay's?

  19. Oh wow a weekend away and all these goody posts to get back to! I am not a huuuge user of liquid liners, but I did find one from MAC which seems to be quite good and stays put relatively well.

And agreed, sponge tips are a recipe for disaster!

  20. @Old Cow, srsly! lol maybe if it was tapered to a point I could work with it, but it's like a thick nubbin' and useless :-/

  21. @PvdH Welcome back! Looking forward to your updates :)
I don't use them often enough, either, so I need one that is pretty goof-proof! It wasn't worth it to try to save a few bucks and I should have bought the MAC one.
