Back to fun makeup talk, now! I have several black eyeliners, brown eyeliners, color eyeliners... but most of them have some nuance of difference. I did a comparison for fun in my stash (FYI I collected every Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner over the past year. They're now $19 apiece!) and found a few cheaper alternatives to the pricier Urban Decay pencils - have you noticed these dupes in your stash?
UD Liner: Dime
Dupe: Milani Liquif'Eye Metallic Eye Pencil in 02 Silver (Milani pencils are $7.99 each)
These two wound up not being total dupes, so my apologies. In the warmer light at my house they looked dead-on, but in the harsh, reflective office fluorescent lighting the Milani looks lighter. Disregard if you like!

Dupe: Milani Liquif'Eye Metallic Eye Pencil in 04 Aqua
UD Liner: Electric
Dupe: NYX Slide On, Glide On, Stay On & Definitely a Turn On Water Proof Extreme Shine Eye Liner in Azure (sheesh, what a name. On the pencil it also says, "This eye liner is so good, the name had to be this long!" can anything be that good? haha). $8

Dupe: Sephora Flashy Liner Waterproof in 14 Taupe $8
UD Liner: Bourbon
Dupe: Wet n Wild Color Icon in Copper $0.99 (best bargain! It's not as creamy, admittedly, but it lasts on your lashlines)
UD Liner: Demolition
Dupe: Milani Liquif'Eye Metallic Eye Pencil in 05 Brown

Of course, quality/lasting power are legitimate concerns. The picture above was taken after I washed my swatching arm with soap and water (minimal rubbing). As you can see, even the bargains didn't really budge!

I've never tried the UD pencils but I've always wanted to! How does NYX compare as far as wear time and stuff goes? Does it work on the waterline? I've never tried any liners from them, either!
ReplyDeleteHi Seana, they don't work quite as well on the waterline as the Urban Decay, but the Urban Decay colors that have shimmers don't work well on the waterline, either, in my opinion. All the ones without shimmers work really great on the waterline. Every liner above is still on, not even smudged, on my arm under a scratchy sweater! I think the key is just to let it set.
ReplyDeleteohmygoshhhhh, you are speaking my language. I love UD pencils. I have a ton of them in multiple colors. They wear really well, and they last forever. I can even go to the gym and have it looking perfect afterwards -- and that is saying something because I sweat like a man.

DeleteOoooh there are some very good dupes in that selection! Do you have the liner in 1999? I absolutely love it but I'm never sure what to do with it ... would love to hear how you use.

Yes! Gorgeous on green eyes :) I tried to wear it on my waterline but I don't think that's a good idea... don't know if it's really eye-safe with those sparkles and it doesn't really stick around there. I've only been drawing it thickly along the bottom or top lashlines but usually not all the way around because its pink tones can make eyes look tired.

DeleteHave you ever found a dupe for Urban Decay 24/7 in Crash? It's my favorite, but as a broke college student, I can't really keep paying for it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't found an exact dupe, but Physicians Formula has several iterations of purples and plums... maybe one of them could be close enough? They're about $11, but you get three in a pack.
