Bear with me - I'm not yet any good at using loose eyeshadows. I believe this is only my second EOTD using them, and the first was way back around the time I started this blog! I'll admit I need way more practice. The red shade's patchiness, especially, is entirely due to my application (I couldn't really tell until I looked at the enlarged photos - it's quite difficult to see in person. The husband even gave it a thumbs-up before I took pictures). Any tips on working with loose shadows, guys?
I wanted to see if I could make a look I like using all four colors from Victorian Disco's House Points collection (buy here).

lovely colors
ReplyDeleteSo much fun!
ReplyDeleteSome tips:
- Fyrinnae Epoxy is meant to be fabulous for loose E/S, especially glittery ones.
- Using a damp brush can make application smoother, colours more vibrant and give better adherence.
- Putting loose E/S on instead of swiping helps prevent fallout.
Hope that helps a little! Do you think you'll be buying more loose E/S in the future? I must admit, I love mine!

Thanks for the tips, Nazia! Sometimes I see swatches of these on other people's blogs and I wish they'd say whether they were swatching damp or using Fix+, and what they're swatching over! I definitely need to get some Fyrinnae Epoxy. My technique with a damp brush sucks, because I did apply these damp. Maybe too damp?
DeleteWell Sarah I still think that you did a marvelous job! I only use lose eyeshadows (from MAC) for painting so unfortunately i cant give you advice!
DeleteThanks, Paola :) How's Mexico treating you so far? Can't wait to see more art from you!
Deleteooh fun colors!!! i usually like using them wet with a damp brush and patting!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Cat ;)
Deletewow! so pretty!
ReplyDeletei love the color contrasts. :)
i wanna learn how to work with loose pigments as well. i am so bad at it, i don't even know how to make them show up on my lids. ;/
The best way I've found so far is to wet my brush, squeeze it semi-dry in a towel, dip it in the pigments, and press it on the lid. It's quite a slow process!
DeleteThis is awesomesauce! I actually just got this set yesterday and I am so excited to try it out!! It looks beautiful :D
ReplyDeleteAbout the LM palettes, I do know they are releasing a second one in May. Suuuuper excited for it! I will be buying ;D I love ChinaDoll and the colors of this new one looks super mega awesome~

I'm so excited, I'll haul both at once :)

I love this! I was meaning to take part in VDC's big 40% off sale that started yesterday but a few shades I really wanted were sold out by the time I was at a computer. I might have to just pay full price at their new site, though, because they just look so pretty!
ReplyDeletethis happened to me, too! but they're reasonably priced so it's not so bad to have to pay full price :)
DeleteI would love to wear more bright colours like that!! you did a great job... I find loose powder shadows really hard to work with!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nic Nic :) They are difficult for me, unfortunately, but often come in such pretty colors
